I had a great Mother's Day with my 6 little ones. We had a slow morning, slept late and just hung out. Then we headed down to Prattville to spend the day with my mother and mother in law. I didn't even take my camera. I wanted to just keep it simple and not lug a bunch of stuff in and out of the van. We had a great day and I got to see my brother in law and sister in law and nephews. 9 boys all playing together. (well, Sam mostly just tried to chew on his fingers) FUN!

Blake and Lauren Lovely were married at The Club in Homewood, AL. When I first spoke to Lauren about her wedding, I let her know right away that I would be 37 weeks pregnant at her wedding! She completely trusted me to capture her day 8 months pregnant and all. Thanks Blake and Lauren for allowing me to capture your day!

This was a beautiful wedding at Rosewood in Pinson. I have known this family for awhile, I photographed Michael's sister's wedding in August of 2009. So, I kinda feel like I have known them forever. They are just those kind of people:) They are totally themselves and have tons of fun. Michael is a Harley guy and has a beautiful red bike. And Mary Ann, I must say, is the perfect girl for him. It is so obvious to everyone that she adores Michael and his family. Here are a few before the ceremony. Adria shot this one with me as a second photographer... it is a blessing to get to shoot with one of your best friends. She did a great job, of course.

Here are a few of Mary Ann. It was hard to choose my favorites! Beautiful bride and gotta love her shoes.

The ceremony was so sweet... this might be my favorite shot of the day.

And of course... lots of dancing. Here are some of the first dance as a married couple. Michael danced with his mother, which made me cry it was so sweet. Mary Ann had a great time with her Daddy on the dance floor. The top right corner picture is of her grand-parents. Dancing in front of a beautiful Christmas tree was the perfect setting for this wedding!

Sparkler fun! ...and the happy couple changed into their and rode off into the night. Hope they layered their clothes, because they rode all the way home and it was freezing!

Congrats Michael and Mary Ann, thanks for letting us photograph your big day!

I knew from the initial planning meeting with Katy and her mother that I was going to really enjoy this wedding. I was right! This family is just precious and of course the bride and groom were too.

Despite weather turning bad and having to move the ceremony indoors, I never heard Katy complain or even show that she was upset. And really, it turned out beautifully. Thanks Hunter and Katy for allowing me photograph your day!

What a sweet session. This one was just outside of Prattville, AL. My hometown! I had never met this momma or her sweet babies until this session. I am so glad that I had the blessing of going into their home and capturing these sweet moments. I love newborn sessions, especially when the babies are a few days or weeks old. This stage passes all too quickly and having these special pictures will hopefully be a blessing to them.

What a fun session! Actually, all of the mini-sessions went so well... I think I will be doing another day of them coming up soon. I love this family, they are so awesome! I love, love, love how free-spirited this kids are. I don't mean they were unruly, just loved having fun and you could tell their momma has fun with them. They haven't had the joy sucked out of them if that makes any sense. I think it is so easy with kids to strip away that natural zest that they have for life. This family seems to have a balance of training their children and at the same time really enjoying them and letting them have fun. Thanks for the encouragement Carringtons! (even if you didn't even mean to!)

Marc surprised Ada with a photo session on Good Friday a few weeks ago. She didn't know it at the time, but she was going to get engaged later that night! I was amazed at how much thought Marc put into the whole day. He had so many things set up and even a surprise engagement dinner at the end of the night. I titled this one Little Miss because it fits Bailey perfectly. I LOVED the time that I had with her and her mom. It was a great session. I loved the outfit changes, the location and the sweet personality of Bailey. When her mom had finished changing her out of the first outfit into a new dress, she stood up, went to the bag and said, "shoes, shoes". She knew that their were matching shoes in that bag and had to have them on. Keep in mind she is only 18 months. Also, keep in mind that I have all boys, so this really amazed me. When her mom emailed me about Caroline's 3 month session, I could tell she was excited. As I expected, she brought along some fun outfits. I especially love the ladybug blanket and hat! We met on a Saturday morning at the Botanical Gardens. It was HOT! But baby Caroline braved the heat for some fun photos. She even had a nap for the second half of the session :)

Jackson's Baptism

What a great day! We were so surprised after church one day when Jackson told us that he wanted to be baptized. He has asked questions for over a year about it. He decided when he was 4 years old that he wanted Jesus to be Lord of his life. He wants to live for God and be friends with him. He reads his bible just about everyday. So, when he mentioned it after church, we were surprised because he has said he wasn't ready for awhile. Then, for some time, he wanted to, but we didn't think he was ready. This time, he mentioned it and Jason and I exchanged looks, knowing that one of his best buddies was getting baptized that day also. Kellen, being the encouraging brother that he is said, "do it! you get a free t-shirt" Jackson told him, "You don't do it because of the free t-shirt. We do it because Jesus did it as an example for us to follow. It is a way to show everyone that we love Him and belong to Him and our sins are forgiven." I got a little teary eyed and looked at Jason again and said, "OK... I think he is ready!" We prayed about it and decided to call the grandparents and invite them up. Jackson also told us that during worship time at church he felt like God was telling him to go ahead and get baptized that day. We were not about to make him wait!!! This was a huge milestone and very important, but the best blessing is getting to watch Jackson grow in his love for Jesus and in his relationship with Him. I certainly have learned so much along the way!

Here he is doing the video. He was really nervous, but he wanted to do it so that people who attend our church who don't know Jesus yet can learn more about baptism! I love his heart! They asked him about his relationship with God.. he said, "I don't really have a relationship with God...I just know that I love God, He is my favorite person in the whole world!"

He was so funny... he walked (swam) right up to the window and waved to everyone.

You can see Pastor Josh looking over to the side and smiling... at a very happy daddy who let out a big "yeah!!!"

Here is Henry in his peaceful mealtime slumber... sweet potatoes can wear a kid out!

Before I had kids if I saw pictures of a kid asleep in his highchair or swing, etc. I was all like, "oh my Lord, I would never let my kid just FALL ASLEEP in his highchair while eating, how sad! When I have kids they will have peaceful nap times in their beds!" Oops. That's why you shouldn't talk about things that you have no idea about. I have found every single one of our kids at some point asleep in some weird place. Thing is, lately it has been happening more and more.

I need to pay attention to their schedules a little more maybe?

I wanted to say Happy Father's day to my awesome husband. I found this picture today and it pretty much sums him up. What a good guy, huh? I mean, it would be so much easier for him to fix a bike when they are not "helping" him. But, he takes the opportunity to spend time with his boys, letting them know how important they are to him. I love him!

I was so excited when Abby called me and asked me to do pictures for her little girl. I went to school with her and her husband, Ben. In fact, Ben and I were in AP Art together. My all time favorite class. EVER. I can't even describe to you how much that class changed my life.

Anyway, I haven't seen them since our highschool reunion. I was not at all surprised to see how bright and sweet their little girl is. Thanks Ben and Abby for getting in touch with me!

I am not sure what it is about this one, but I think this next one is my favorite pictures I have ever taken.

Her mother saw me doing a bridal shoot and asked for my website. She contacted me a few weeks later and we set up a time to meet to do her little girl's session. This family is so precious! I noticed how love their little one so much and really appreciate their time with her. Later I found out that she actually had a ear infection that day and that explained why she wasn't her usual happy self. I think she still did pretty good though!

Also, her mother really planned and prepared well. She brought so much fun stuff. Even though our model was feeling her best, we got to use some of them. Very cute!

We went to the Sweet Shop at Ross Bridge. She perked up then!

She even brought a red wagon. AND, my favorite. Every girl needs a pair of snazzy red shoes.

I have been wanting to share several sessions that I have done... but they have been building up faster than I can get them on here!

My friend E. came down from North Alabama and brought her little man to have his pics done. We had so much fun and it was so good to see her, her mother and her son. I have known E. since college and it is so amazing to see this precious little boy who is her son! I loved our time together and I hope I get to shoot his pictures again...

Isn't he a cutie! I know it sounds silly, because I am with my kiddos all day... but it made me miss mine and want to go straight back home to them!

On another note, here is my fat little Henry... it's amazing to me that he and Charlie are already 11 months old! Jason was standing in the doorway coming into the house and I was like, "Go back, go back, stand right there... that lighting is so pretty, I have to go get my camera." What a patient husband. But, Charlie was asleep so his doorway picture will have to wait. I think I will play with these in photoshop and make a series to be framed.

Yeah!! Spring is here! I have really enjoyed this weather (until this cold front today!!!) I have been busy with portrait sessions. I will post those soon. Here is one from the Botanical Gardens. I was trying to figure out my new camera (which I love by the way!!!)

We have a double stroller that lets you arrange the seat facing each other. Henry and Charlie love to play footsie. It seems like they are holding hands but using their feet.

Okay, this was funny. We always put the kids to bed and then later, when we are ready for bed, we will check on them and make sure they are tucked in. Jason went into Daly's room and he was not in bed, but his closet light was on. Here is what we found when we opened the door. The little guy had snuck out to play with his toys and just couldn't take it anymore. Sound asleep. I didn't even care, I will take them sleeping anyway I can get them.
Here is another random photo. All 3 of the big ones were laid out watching the t.v. Check out the knot on the middle one's forehead. Bike wreck, I think.
I was in the meantime, feeding these 2 little guys. Who knew broccoli mixed with oatmeal could be so yummy?

Were moving on up...

(to a deluxe apartment...) I have had the Jefferson's theme song in my head lately. Ever since we found out we were going to be settled in an apartment for awhile. Here is the deal: We were having a roof put on our house and during construction we had a huge rain storm (right before it snowed) SO, we had some major leaking (it's a long story). We were in the middle of trying to figure out how we were going to fix everything, then Jason had the idea to call the insurance company and see if by chance they covered the damage. They do, AND they put us in temporary housing. It has been so much work cleaning everything out of the way and getting out of our house and settled in an apartment, but we are so thankful that everything is being taken care of.

So, we have been the busiest we have ever been it seems and I am trying to get back into a normal routine. (whatever that is!!!)

We have a had SO many fun times though. I forgot to mention that we were in a hotel at first. Being the awesome, fun mom that I am ;) I got a hotel with an indoor pool and we stayed in the pool so much that we looked like prunes. Here is a picture of us at the hotel. I love the self-timer on my camera!

Our sweet little boy is now five. WOW. I am amazed at how God has grown this little baby into a BOY! He has such a wonderful heart and is full of life and fun. I tell him everyday how God gave him to me as a present and I am so thankful for him!!! We spent the day celebrating. Presents, lunch at his favorite restaurant. Bowling. Cupcakes and more presents. Now, they are all in the bath and we will have movie and popcorn time soon. What a great day! Thanks Granna and Grandaddy for helping to make it such a special day. He loves all his grandparents and he was so excited to get to spend the day with them.

Last night we pulled out a box of old VHS tapes and found a home video of our trip to the Grand Canyon. We went 2 months after we were married. We laughed at how much thinner and younger we looked even though it was only 7 years ago. At one point in the video, I was taping while riding in the car looking out the window at the desert. I said, "I feel so sick to my stomach...must be riding while trying to videotape." Maybe so... but as we found out when we got back home, it could have been because I was pregnant! We had an almost honeymoon baby 10 months after we were married. This little guy really changed my life (for the better!) I was so aware of the consequences of every decision that I made and I all of sudden understood the awesome responsibility that comes with being a mother. Then when we found out that we were pregnant again I had so many emotions... one being the worry that I wouldn't have enough room in my heart to love a second child like I love my first. I worried for nothing because when he was born I immediately was in love again. I was overcome with how much love I held for this little guy in my heart and how much our Heavenly Father must love us. Even though my heart and my days were full or so it seemed... God placed in our hearts to have another. This was a big step for us and my husband and I wondered if we could handle having three (if you know how many we have you are laughing right now!) So In March of 2006, we welcomed our precious third baby boy. He is truly a delight. By the way, the jump from 2 to 3 is EASY! He was a breeze. I can honestly say that I have never taken our boys for granted. But, as you probably know, the Smith family was not complete in God's eyes. We prayed (and prayed and prayed) about having a 4th. Some days our pray was more like... "God are you SURE we should have another one?" Then we were overjoyed when we found out we were pregnant with our 4th (hee hee). I went through several weeks of battling thoughts like... how in the world am I going to manage 4 kids? That worry went right out the window when we went in for our ultrasound and were told that we were pregnant with twins. People ask me all the time... ," how did you feel when you found out there were 2?" I can truly tell them, "That was one of the HAPPIEST moments in my life." We laughed, we cried, we hooped and hollered. The nurses and doctors (who know us well by now) laughed and celebrated with us. In July of 2008 we became a family of 7 when we added our 2 precious twin boys to the crew.

So, as you can see the last 7 years in our family have been full of wonder and blessings. I was taken back to the that awesome feeling of contentment when you KNOW that you are right were God wants you to be and you are SO glad that God gave you the ability to be obedient and available to Him. Sometimes we miss it big time and we look back and wish we would have gone with God's plan. I know I have. I am so thankful that he always has a backup plan and although it won' t be the same as if we would have follow His plan the first time... He has great things in store for us IF we will put fear and worry aside and go in Faith to accomplish the things He has for us.

If you are feeling that nudge to go in a direction that doesn't quiet make sense to you but you somehow know that is God nudging you then Go FOR IT! If it is God's plan for you then you won't regret it, you will be richly blessed and SO thankful when you get there and look back on it.

Believe it or not... they are not identical. H. is on the right, C. on the left. These are my sweet 4 month old twins. I had some spare time while at my mom's house so I put up a backdrop and took a few. Aren't they sweet? Now I need to do a session with my older boys.

The W.'s have become good friends of ours. have you ever become friends with the people that bought your house? We have and we are so blessed! So, I was very excited to take their pictures. A friend told me about this location in Springville. I loved it! The morning sun was very bright and it was a windy day. We spent over an hour playing and taking pictures. FUN! They wanted these mainly to be put together into a collection to be framed in their home. I think it helps knowing what the client envisions for their photos. Aren't they a great family???

This was one of my first shoots and still one of my favorites. This day marked an anniversary of their first date. He asked her out to lunch and he will never be the same again. Now they have a wonderful marriage and children and they love the Lord. So, as a surprise to her he arranged for a photo session. We started our session at the place were they got engaged and he "recreated" the moment. HOW ROMANTIC. What girl would not love that?? They were so easy to photograph because they are truly in love and it shows. Thanks B.J. and E. for trusting me to take your pictures. AND and BIG THANKS for all the advertising:)
